This may sound a little silly but my home of four LOVES Heinz 57 on burgers, hambuerger steak, steak tips and so many more. I have ran out to the store a dozen times just to get sauce and then....(I always pick up extra stuff which blows my budget!!), not to mention who wants to run out all the time for something so simple. I have created the simplest 57 sauce ever and it's actually good and we all have these things in our fridge.
3 parts (maybe 3/4 cups) Heinz Ketchup
1 part (1/4 cup) yellow mustard, maybe a little more
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce. Mix all and serve
It's a knock off version but satisfies all the charastics of Heinz 57. ;)

I have found the best sauce for ribs is Kraft Regular bbq sauce mixed with Apple juice to thin. I also wrap my ribs in tin foil, put on the seasoning that I want to use (chicken and rib rub) and pour in apple juice. when almost done I put it directly on the grill and slather on the bbq and apple juice mix. Yummy!!

Welcome to the community lizard. =)

A veggie tray never seems to have 'leftovers' either. Most people do enjoy dipping them, more so when they don't have to do the work to make them easy grabs.

Good suggestion!

Instead of using vinegar to make the BBQ sauce acidity you can also use lemon or lime juice.

Needs mustard, and acidity, like vinegar. I would add a 1/2 cup each to the mix, but the sugar in the ketchup, chili sauce, and all that honey, you should not baste, but brush on once the protein is cooked and resting over indirect heat, or you will have scorched meat.

OOOH WAY TOO SWEET FOR ME!

Kraft BBQ sauce is basically all sugar to start with ... adding dessert topping to it ... I can't imagine. I could see how this might be good if the sauce isn't so sweet to begin with.

my kind of BBQ, takes me back home. have you tried marinating your meat in mustard and vinergar and brown sugar, then light your coals for a slow cook, then just as they began to get almost done start putting on your sauce in thin layers to keep from burning until you have enough sauce on them? this make me want to start up the grill.

i take kraft bbq sauce and add raspberry dessert topping or raspberry jam . you get a sweet , tart and tangy bbq sauce all in one and the seeds in the raspberries add a little crunch to the sauce also.

Lottie, Thanks for the idea. I have never tried that. Also try on western style ribs- when they are just about finished grilling- baste with the sauce.

go to the deli and have them cut the bologna at least 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. before putting on grill , cut 1 inch cuts (4) The taste is really different but terrifficaround the slice. mix grape jelly and bbq sauce- spread sauce over top of bologna, when ready - turn bologna over and repeat with the sauce.
