I know this isn't very nice but we all have a true confession or several. Before they started adding those tamper proof plastic seals around the jars of mayo, I would stick just the very tip of my finger in and taste the mayo.
I know it sounds gross but I didn't want to buy a whole jar of the stuff and then find out that my family wouldn't eat it. My bad.

Bstefens, You must be starving after eating that. I though all sandwiches needed some protein in them.

know that i am a little too late to reply to this subject, but have a couple of answers. ---chipotles are smoked jalapenos, you can get them in a can, or fresh at your local farmers market. they are not as spicy as fresh jalapenos, if you were to use it on grilled cheese, i would jullienne them and use what ever amount you need, depending on the heat you like for your sandwich. there is also a chipotle monterey jack out there in the market. excellent for grilled cheese, for that one, i would add a couple slices of bacon. now, thats a sandwich. and... ---who ever thought miracle whip is spicy,,, have you ever had it? its actually tangy. and maybe that is what you dont like about it. i would spread very lightly on one side of the sandwich to see if you like it and go from there...

I got some powdered chipotle from Penzey's spices. It is really good for those times when you need a bit of something, but a whole chipotle would be too much. We really love the smokey taste of chipotles, and we like stuff fiery-hot.

For a change we use pepperjack cheese with a slice of american cheese. Makes it a little spicy but not too much.

But if you apply it to both sides of the bread, the sandwich will be very, very slippery.

If you only apply it to one side of the bread, the taste is not very strong. It is just a slight something extra.

Chipotles are smoked jalapenos. They come in a can with adobo sauce, available in the Mexican foods sectioin in supermarkets.

What are chipotles?
Very hot, very smoky peppers. They come in a can. Only use them if you really like hot smoky flavors. One or Two whole peppers would completely ruin a dish like grilled cheese.
