I know this post is old, but easter is coming up again soon (hopefully if this snow ever melts!) and have been thinking of how to decorate my easter table:
Using green as my theme- Im going to use fresh fruit and veggies to fill clear vases- Green apples, baby artichokes, and limes.

You can even make a vase out of a large articoke, cut off the tips and remove the heart. Place your short stemmed flowers in a small plastic bag and fill with a little water- tape the around the stem to keep from spilling. Wiggle the bag into your artichoke and you will have a unique and beautiful flower arrangement.

I didn't stay around and get the recipe. Now i'm going to have to visit her 'site and look it up.

Here's a link to Sandra Lee's online magazine. She always has brilliant and smart tablescrape ideas.

To make your tablescape usable all Spring, consider making miniature "landscapes" out of flowers like tulips, hyacinth, etc, with small stones and stuff. BHG.com has some great ideas. If you simply put the eggs in and around the flower containers, the 'scapes will be easy to adapt to use anywhere in your house all season. Birds' nests are a great addition as well. Just pick up some at a craft store.

BTW, the kids and I always do a grass centerpiece as well. The rye seeds grow fast and it's easy to give a haircut so it stays uniform in length.

Have a wonderful Easter!!

I used hurricane shaped vases to make decorations out of. First I put some easter grass in the bottom and then just layered plastic eggs of all colors up to the top. Rock salt is also good. You can dye the salt any color(s) and layer the colors, make designs, etc. And then in the middle at the top you can place a small glass votive holder and votive candle in it. When you burn the candle it will not melt or affect the rock salt. I have found these hurricane vases to be extremely versatile. I use them year-round and just fill them up with different things according to the season and/or holiday. It is very inexpensive and looks like I put a lot of thought into it. A finishing touch would be a wreath of similar colors and theme that would encircle the bottom: on a tabletop it looks professional and lovely.

Yes, Sandy is a wonderful tablescrape-ist. You should watch her show and you will get some good ideas. Chandeliers, seashell napkin holders, rectal swans.....you will get inspired!

You really must check Sandra Lee and her Semi-Ho website. She's the queen of tablescapes. Although, she tends to make hers on the expensive side, so you'd have to adapt her ideas to do using a normal (not a celebrity) person's budget.

I'm looking for some cute Easter decorations to dress my didning table this spring. I'm thinking of planting grass seed in baskets to display the eggs my child will help dye and decorate. Any suggestions?
