tulle netting (the stuff used in bridal veils) is inexpensive and great for getting an elegant, light look. you could put it over white tablecloths - get tulle in the bride's colors or in white. you can lay it flat over the tablecloth or bunch it around the center and set the centerpiece on top. i have used little inexpensive watering cans for a flower container for showers. the idea of sand and maybe shells in a tall hurricane with votive candles would be nice too.

Lake made me think sand, maybe jars with layers of colored sand, ring of daisies around the bottom.

You can use Mason jars for flower vases and tie ribbon around the mouth of the jar to coordinate with the wedding colors.

... Unless, of course, you meant the show is INSIDE at a house next to a lake, in which case our ideas may not work so well, especially the swans. lol
If it's inside, move it outside! Less overall cleanup!

ooh... great idea and still pretty inexpensive... great idea because of the time of year and being next to a lake...who knows what kinds of buggers are out there...
... and speaking of light, not sure what time of day you will be celebrating, but if its late afternoon or night-time, you can get the citronella candles... they are no longer those tacky ugly yellow things... you can get them in all shapes and sizes and they dont smell... i would incorporate those along with regular candles for light...

Ooo on that note... if you have a covered porch, or will be using the canopy style tents to have the shower outside, you can always buy mosquito netting or a similar gauzy fabric pretty cheaply and tack it up so that the wind blows it around while it softens the light.
Looks romantic and is functional too!

Sandra Lee had this great idea of renting swans for a wedding. It seemed very romantic.

Decoration Ideas for a couples wedding shower

I need help with decoration ideas for a couples wedding shower. The shower is in August. It will be VERY hot I am sure and we are serving BBQ, etc. I need some help with table centerpieces and just some different decoration ideas to spice the place up. The shower will be held at our lake house. Very casual and informal. All suggestions will be a huge help. Thanks!
