hejcs01, Where are you from? I am from IL, but live in WI now. I am a huge Bears fan. We are having a Super Bowl party this year and I love the football field idea.

This is a really great point, and it gave me a great idea!! Draw straws?? what's the fun in that? I say just let all the party goers in, start serving the 'tinis and other cocktails immediately and let them all decorate wherever they see fit! With all the different decorating styles, the place will be ADORABLE! Better order a few gross of glue sticks for those hot glue guns! Get the folks from House Beautiful to take snapshots of the finished results! F'ntastic!

Pardon me if I am off base here, but, aren't tailgate parties normally held in the parking lot of a stadium? If so, wouldn't it be rather difficlut to get permission to decorate the stadium? What if more than one person or group want to have a tailgate party at the same stadium? Is it first come-first serve, do you make reservations ahead of time, or do they just draw straws the day of the event to see who gets to decorate?

What would work best, IMO, would be a chandelier or two that you aren't using, a few live swans that can be rented (watch out as sometimes they are vicious), a load of Army surplus canvas and an armload of various items from the 1/2 Off bin at Michael's craft store.
Plug in your hot glue gun and WALLAH!!

Well, I for one am in favor of alcholic beverages.

You should watch Sandra Lee (Semi-HOmade.)
She doesn't give a rip about what food tastes like, or if it has any nutritional value.
BUT: she does care that the decor is kitschy and she calls it a "tablescape." She also is really big on obliterating taste with lots and lots of alcoholic beverages.

There is a restaurant chain in California called Hudsons Grill, and they all have the front end of a Hudson Hornet (that's a very old car) appearing to protrude through the wall. You could do this with the back end of a truck, and serve food right off the tailgate.

You can also make football shaped gingerbread cookies and use a cream cheese icing for laces!

Last year I made my buffet table a football field - I put a green plastic table cloth (from Target) over the table and used masking tape to create yard lines. I bought napkins (orange & blue) for The Bears. It was really simple, but I got tons of compliments.
