Some great ideas here! And my two cents that I hope are even close to as creative...

Since it's a sleepover, and no one will be sleeping, I suspect, you could organize some activites that might be more fun or more challenging at night and tie in with it being nearly Halloween:

Maybe a scavenger hunt with the lights off. Make sure to recruit some of girls... or brothers, if the 13 year old has any - to leap out at unsuspecting moments during the search and scare them.

Pumpkin carving, giving a prize for the most creative, scary, etc.

If you have a decent-sized backyard, you could have a bonfire with s'mores and scary stories.

Then they could wrap up the night with either scary (age-appropriate, of course) movies or Twilight.

Use fabric pens (or sharpies) and have everyone autograph each other's pillowcase. My daughter uses hers all the time.

Shoelaces are another good one to tie dye and you can get odd things to put over the ends for mix and match.

Tie Dye Party and instead of tie dying a t-shirt, doa pillowcase. They have the kits at Wal Mart.

Decorate your clothes Party:
Have each guest bring an article of clothing to decorate.
Have ribbon, buttons, gems, fabric paints, markers, etc available. We love our Gemagic from Wal Mart.

only1kimmied ,
I love both your ideas. We went to an event years ago where they made their own lotion and it was so much fun. Thanks for reminding me!
I also love the clothing swap idea! Very cost efficient.
Two thumbs up!:8}

I had a sleepover theme birthday party this year where we made our own beauty products. We dressed in PJ’s and had a contest of the silliest PJ’s. (I turned 33yrs old). I found a book for pre-teens to make your own makeup, nail polish, scrubs, etc. I found a great website that I bought different popular fragrances oils that we added to vitamin E body lotion from the dollar store. I also bought small containers with lids (like 10 for a dollar) for the products that we made. You can find many recipes online for homemade beauty products. The Common Scents (do a look-up for the site). It was such fun. I bought labels from the dollar store as well and made about 15 labels per person with their names and cute little pictures. We watched 16 Candles, Weird Science, and Xanadu. It was so much fun. Get plenty of markers. If you would like more information on the book, I can email you an entire copy of the book. It’s in PDF form.

I am planning a fall party where my friends go through their closets and bring all their clothes, shoes, jewelry, unused beauty supplies, etc and we are going to have a swap. Whatever is left we are donating to a woman’s shelter.

Girls of all ages seem to love the Twilight series, however if your child just isn't into it, consider other popular books and movies.
High School Musical (popularity seems to be fading, but there are still fans)
Fame (the same as High School Musical to me, haha)
Hannah Montana (Might be too young of a theme, but could work)
The spa idea is a good one. If your child is into performing (singing/dancing/acting) consider having the girls put on a show for your family.

LOL. I run into some of these word barriers myself. The hardest part is figuring out what the word is that's triggering the filter.

Well, if you went with the Twilight theme, I guess you could take a Halloween spin on things. And you can find Twilight stuff everywhere. Walgreens even has candy. There are Twiligth board games. But if she is not into that, then let us know and we will brainstorm and try to come up with something else.

You can take any party theme and make it a sleepover.

We did an American Girl one years ago, it was basically a spa type party. Did nails, hair, makeup, etc. Used different colored clothing to find the colors that looked best on them. Took index cards with 2 wholes punched at top, and made each girl a stack. Then they went around and wrote encouraging things about each girl and what they liked about her. That girl then decorated her top card, and tied them all together with some cute ribbon. We had a blast.

for a sleepover my 13-year-old daughter loved doing a pampered diva theme -- let them give each other manis & pedis, or have someone come in to do them. you can make really cute rubber flip-flops for them to wear after the pedis. find inexpensive furry fabric and cut it out to line the base of the flip flop and glue it on, then they can tie fun fabric or ribbons on the top rubber (kind of like the hair scrunchies everyone does for sports).

i agree that Twilight is a big thing right now -- there is all sorts of stuff out for that right now as New Moon is coming out in November. certainly they could watch the movie or have decorations themed to twilight, although i'm not sure how that would relate to a sleepover.

I agree Twilight is popular, as is FAME. Does she like either one?

Scrapbooking parties are always fun, but can get expensive.

Welcome to the community Katz. =)

My youngest is going to be 13 this year, too. I know her, and her friends, are very into Twilight, and the TV show Vampire diaries, I was thinking of some sort of a vampire theme for her party.

What is yours into that might be able to be twisted into a theme?
