I've recently started using a natural sugar substitute called Stevia in kool-aid for my boys. It's good for them and they don't know the difference. You can usually find it at any health food store.

We make kool aid ice cubes and put a couple in a glass of water. Thats the extent of kool aid in our home.

I use the regular kind where you add sugar, the sweetner in the sugar free type is extremely bad for young kids, as well as splenda or any other artificial sweetner

Kool aid is a yummy treat but there are more healthier options out there

Why not use real juices with lots of ice and cold water? I keep pitchers of ice water in my fridge , fill up a tall glass with ice cubes and ice water, and add an oz. or so of juice. My kids love it and are not ingesting any artificial sweeteners/colorings/flavorings, or empty calories. Besides.....water is actually good for you! You ought to try it sometime.

You can use sugar free kool aid, or use splenda in the mix same tase w/out the sugar. This is much better than sodas..

Just one question...Exactly how long ago did you discover this "Kool-Aid Blenders"? I'm sorry to tell you but this has been going on in my family since my oldest brother as little and he's 42 now.

I love your suggestions! Remember the commercial where they suggested making Kool-Aid ice cubes of one flavor, then adding them to a picher of Kool-Aid of another (contrasting color) flavor? This gave me the idea of mixing in other ways also. I really like the suggesetion of mixing juice with it instead of sugar, because sugar substitutes are more chemicals and hard on little bodies. My input: I like to make a pitcher of sun-tea and mix in a packet each of raspberry and lemonade Kool-Aid. It adds flavor, then I would put in just enough sugar to taste. The adults like this one! I use herbal teas like Raspberry Zinger and mix in a lemonade Kool-Aid for the kids-- no caffeine!

i like the idea of blending the tastes/colors and i love the idea of using juice concentrate instead of sugar-- but i'd be sure to limit exactly how much of this i was making for the kids each day! they should be getting more water/milk it sounds like-- does this fill them up too much to then not want to eat? how old are the kids and how many is that much serving? :)

I ask you... Is this not Exhibit A in the Trial Against Childhood Obesity?

Do your kids need more juice but prefer to just drink kool-aid?

Substitue the sugar for a can of frozen white grape juice concentrate, then add water according to the package.

If making two packages, use one can of juice concentrate and 1 cup of sugar. Or just use two cans of juice concentrate.

Enjoy!

Kool-Aid Blenders

This is a little something that I like to call " Kool-Aid Blenders". I found myself making between 3 to 4 pitchers of Kool-Aid a day for my nephew and his friends. Now I make two gallons which seems to do the trick,at least for now anyway. Sometimes the boys would want different flavors on any given day, some wanted cherry while another's wanted kiwi. Then I got to thinking; what if I blended two different packages together just to see what would happen. EUREKA! the "Kool-Aid Blender" was invented. Now I find myself trying all kinds of blends some success and some failures. With some blends you get a taste that is just right with the right color and some that have the best taste but the color is not so appealing. I noticed that when I use the Kool-Aids that are clear, the color is better to the eyes. Mixing more than two packages can be tricky, if you have the courage to do so, then be my guest. If you use more than two packages, 1/2 or even 1/4 the Kool-Aid package ingredients. Give it a try.
