Dorothy is right on! Postum and Grapenuts are sacrosant. Kraft is abandoning THE original health drink at a time when many people are looking for alternatives to the "popular" overpriced, overroasted coffee products. It's a sad day for a name (Kraft) that should inspire trust. Raise the price if it isn't profitable, but put the folks in Battle Creek back in business.

I would like to add my voice to the complaints about Kraft Foods discontinuing POSTUM. I have been enjoying this drink since I was a small child, and I am really upset that it is no longer in the stores. As others have remarked, Postum is much more than a de-caf substitute. It has a flavor and character all it's own. Lately I've been making it with milk (instead of water) and sprinkliing cinnamon on top. Delicious! Better than a fancy latte! SO.... Please bring back Postum. After more than 100 years of sales, it deserves a space on the shelf! I think that if you advertized its virtues, you could easily increase sales. How about testimonials from happy Postum drinkers! Thank you Dorothy

Postum is still available on eBay Express. Just watch for excessive shipping charges and expired product. http://search.express.ebay.com/items/postum
A little marketing is all Postum needed.
Heck, it is selling for $30-70 a jar...so there is a demand for the product. Why not sell it in boutiques and health food stores?
I've tried the chicory and beet root alternatives...no thanks.
I'll cook up my own.

I like to keep a cupboard full of hot beverages that I can offer my guests during the winters months. About a year ago I started keeping Postum on hand, along with the numerous teas and instant coffee. Of all the non-caffienated beverage choices, the biggest hit was the Postum. Most of my guests had never heard of it before and tried it with some reluctance. After the first sip, the unanimous response was, "I can't believe how good this is for a coffee-substitute kind of drink! I never liked any of those other ones." I personally have associations with Postum going back to afternoons spent with my grandparents and I'm having a hard time dealing with the idea that this true icon of beverages might be gone forever. I agree that a little marketing (I've never seen any) could go a long way toward making this a viable product, especially if the ads are designed to appeal to a contemporary crowd. I'm crossing my fingers for a comeback.

I too am angry that Kraft discontinued Postum without any warning. Maybe it wasn't Kraft's highest selling item but it certainly had a faithful consumer base. Pero IS NOT a substitute! This issue has left a bad impression of Kraft for me and I will reconsider buying Kraft products when I do have other choices.

It's clear you're not going to listen to the public and start reproduction of Postum. Well, thanks for years and years of pleasure from it. But is it possible for you to sell the recipe to another food producer so they can make it?
I believe as one writer here said - this is a different age of health food folks and Postum is just the thing to catch many people's attention if you just ADVERTISE IT!! And selling it in a "boutique" health food part of the supermarket or a health food store is a supreme idea!! PLEASE consider this. Just like another person said on here, I can't drink coffee either (health issue) and tea just doesn't hit the spot like Postum. I really NEED this drink! It's the best hot drink I've ever had - soothing, delicious - nothing else like it! I used to by 3 or 4 jars at a time and was surprised to go for another small stash, only to find that it had been discontinued.
You can't make money off of something you don't advertise - or if your advertisments don't suit the people of the 2000's. Whoever thought back in the 70s that water would someday sell so big? But it does today. Advertising works, believe me!
Hey look - if you don't want to make Postum anymore, any chance of someone else producing it under another name? If you're not going to produce it, don't be selfish and keep the recipe to yourself. Let someone else buy it from you. There are too many people out there who would give their eye teeth for a nice hot cup of Postum in the morning or evening (It's selling for big bucks on Ebay!). You could get rid of the product and still make a bundle if you want! Think about it.

Nolamay - I understand that Postum is being discontinued because of low sales. I'm surprised that it is being discontinued since everyone is on a "health-kick" now and a lot of people avoid caffeine. For years, I have seen no advertising which would encourage people to buy it, and I have met people who have never heard of it. So much for the Sales Dept.! For myself, I cannot tolerate coffee or tea, so unless I find a substitute for Postum, the only hot drink left is hot chocolate.

HollyPond, I have never personally had the whole "Postum experience" but I can recall seeing it my mom's kitchen and all of my aunts when I was a kid. I BELIEVE that it is/WAS an alternative to hot coffee. I'm guessing that it is/WAS caffeine free and hot & cozy like a cup of coffee. I can picture the glass jar in my mind but never had a cup. As I am not a big coffee fan to begin with, I can sympathize with everyone's outrage but cannot really relate. I CAN get with no longer having something around that HAS been around since one's childhood. THAT I can sympathize with. If you "POSTUM DIE-HARDS" need my support, I'm there....

I too love Postum. I can't drink coffee or caffeine products so hot postum with lite creamer was a wonderful substitute drink. If anyone finds out where I could buy some, please answer quickly.

I agree wholeheartedly wth the comments regarding the sudden withdrawal of Postum without warning. I have been drinking Postum for many years and there is no alternative that tastes as good. If Kraft had decent Product Management they could have marketed this as a health food, sold it in those 'boutique' sections in the supermarkets and made more money out of it. Because there is NO competition. Shame on you Kraft.

Holly, I still don't know but it seems to be important enough that its disappearance could be the catalyst for the next big civil uprising. OH NO Kraft! Bring it back quick!!!!!

Like many who are numb by the sudden murder of POSTUM by Kraft, I suggest the following. One of the best suppliers of coffee in the world, in my opinion, is GEVALIA. Why don't those of us who are so p....d off at Kraft, contact Gevalia and ask them if they'd be willing to buy the recipe. They are doing amazing business and, again, in my opinion, POSTUM would provide a wonderful opportunity for their expansion into the non caffeine market. As for you, KRAFT, I'll buy other products instead of yours. Others are correct. You are an arrogant, insensitive, muliti national company that employs robots to make decisions. POSTUM is one of the greatest natural wonders of the world. You really don't deserve to have it. Quint
