To me, Shepard's Pie is one of those recipes that has so many variations, there is no one right way to fix it. It seems to lend itself to being made with leftovers from a traditional Sunday dinner. :)

I always make my version of shepards pie with leftover beef roast and gravy. I know it isn't authentic but it is delicious. I chop up the leftover beef, onions and mushrooms and pour into casserole. I also cook roasted carrots keeping in mind that I want enough for leftovers, next a layer of the carrots and finally top with tons of mashed potatoes. Bake about 30 min to an hour.

I think ShepardsPie I think you make just like you would a Beef Pot Pie only you use Mashed Potatoes for the top. Use any one of the recipes you have or Kraft has for beef pot pie and add your potatoes.

"Shepards pie" recipe

I am not sure this is authentic but its easy and good!
1 lb ground beef
minced onion to taste
Mashed Potatoes extra "whippy"
2 cans cream corn
8 oz shredded cheese
OPTIONAL:
Sour cream
garlic salt
1 can mixed veggies (or any other kind you like)

Brown/scramble the ground beef adding onion to taste
Place beef in bottom of 9x12 cake pan
top with cream corn and other veggies if you choose
Set aside
Mix up potatoes (could be done while GB is cooking) adding extra milk so they are real whippy. I add some sour cream and garlic salt because I like it this way but you can leave out.
Top GB with potatoes spreading to cover entire pan
Top potatoes with shredded cheese
Bake until bubbling hot

YUMMY
