I am assuming that you might like to make something a little healthy if possible. Start off with a huge bagged salad and make sure to have at least 3 dressings-ranch, italian and other. Have croutons, chinese noodles, bacon bits, olives in bowls. Cut strips of ham and 2*3 different kinds of cheese-think colorful. Boil at least a dozen eggs, peel and slice and place on a tray. Buy store bought soup the Progresso soup variety has nice, thick veggies and noodles and heat up. Get some loaves of hot french bread and place sliced in a bread basket covered loosely with warm kitchen towels. (place towels in the dryer for a few minutes). buy bananas, apples and oranges rinse and arrange in a beautiful bowl on the table for an after dinner refreshing and healty dessert. hot soup, chef salad, hot bread and fresh fruit. yumm!

Pick up a couple of bags of vegetable stir fry and some chicken breasts and make a chicken stirfry with some rice. Cooks in about 1/2 hour.

If they are coming tonight I don't have a lot of suggestions for you (as I don't know how much time you would have to run to the store or what you have on hand) but for next time you could dust off the crockpot and do a roast, pork roast, bbq sandwiches, soup, taverns (loose meats).
You could have a casserole assembled in the fridge and when you get off work just pop into the oven and bake. Lasagna would be great unless you want to get away from pasta all together .
