Kim Ber, did your son fix the rabbit? if so, which did he use and how did it turn out? if he wants to learn to cook, maybe you could put a stove back in?!? Who knows he could become a World famous Chef!

That's a little harsh, isn't it?

I don't eat wild game at all...cant stomach the idea..but I laughed because you guys are eating the easter bunny...so sad..lol!
I guess the best idea for the 12 year old is just the stove top. The rabbit and noodles recipe sounds fairly decent. I know of dumplings you can use canned biscuts but into pieces and it works really easy and fast!

Kim Ber refuses to cook but her kids do and they can only use the microwave and crockpot, I think.
I think the grill might be too dangerous. Doubt they have one anyway.

I'm sorry, but I think this is a little odd to serve rabbit. But if that is what he wants, I know my brother loves rabbit..you could always do a grilled rabbit recipe.

Well, since I do not cook at all (and I mean this) we removed our stove and replaced it with a wine fridge, so really the microwave or the crockpot are the only things available for the kids to cook with.
Can you make a rabbit in a crockpot???
My son much prefers cooking with the microwave, though. It's new and has a lot of different features and settings.
Thanks, guys.

Hope this thread produces lots of recipes. My DH decided to raise rabbits (he thinks he is still a kid) to eat! (I don't know about this, yet!!) He has 2 "breeders"--they are Flemish Giants and they get to be 25-30 pounds. He tried to get the mother pregnant for "Easter" time, but it did not take. Tried again-she is now pregnant (with our food, yuck-the idea!) So anyway, maybe you guys have ideas on how to cook them--the rabbit and dumplings sound good. Barb

Kim Ber, Your request reminded my of the time that money was "very" tight and my mother-in-law and here 3 children where at our house (there was 4 of us) making 8. It's was at Thanksgiving time. My step-dad gave us "1" rabbit!. She fixed Rabbit and dumplings, WOW were they 'good" She made it just like she would if she were making "chicken and dumplings". Another time, and this may help you, she fried it, just like she did her chicken. so, unless you have a stove or electric skillet/deep fryer this won't help much. I don't think I would microwave it at all!

I wouldn't want to eat rabbit especially if I was 12. Maybe you can make a rabbit mold of some sort.

cooking rabbit in the microwave is not the best idea at all. i have seen alot of stews and braised rabbit. what about something like that? you mentioned that he is 12. i am not one to tell you what to do, but he should be old enough to experiment with a stove and an oven with supervision.
