Welcome to the Kraftfoods community, ironmeup. The recipe link by momtb certainly sounds like it fits your Mom's criteria of lots of sugar and calories.

Good luck. :)

looking for an old "easter candy" recipe

Posted: Apr 7, 2009 7:00 PM
My Mom came across an Easter candy egg recipe in a magazine when I was growing up (1970's) and I loved it. I made her make it every year until I graduated high school.

For over 40 years she kept it in her cookbook and now, sadly, she doesn't have the page any more. (she says, "must have just been thrown away I guess" and Oh was I crushed.) I would love to show my children how (my teeth became rotten?) they too can enjoy the Easter treat I did when I was little.

The recipe called for gelatin, sugar, butter, chocolate chips, food coloring, coconut and that is all I can remember. I don't have an idea of how much of anything was used. Mom would say that it gave a year (if not more) supply of sugar and butter with just one bite! When it was all mixed, you would shape them into an egg shape and coat them with chocolate.

it would be greatly appreciated if anyone knows of the recipe or a similar one. Thanks A Heap! (or was that a hop?)
