Yes, indeed, Sandy must be classically trained. I know because I see her cooking magazines prominently displayed at the checkout at Home Depot, alongside the "Build a Deck in a Day" and "Remodel Your Kitchen and Bath for under $1,000."

Also Sandra is a professional. I believe that she went to cooking school somewhere in the city of France. She must know her stuff to have her own show on the Food Network.

We hear it from that Sandra Lee person on the food channel. The more cans of stuff you dump in, the better. And never, ever use fresh food if you can help it. Seasoning powder packets are the best way to go in her opinion.

People, people, where did you hear such things! It is quite all right to cook raw meat and vegetables in your slow cooker and it is quite all right to mix brands. I do it all the time and have never gotten sick or gotten reactions from my slow cooker.
It is good to start your slow cooker on high for an hour and then turn it to low. This gets your raw meat up to a safe temperature quickly.
Some crockpot recipes ask you to sear your meat in a frying pan before you place it in the crockpot. This helps give the meat a more browned appearance and kills harmful bacteria.
Rinse your raw chicken and pat it dry before mixing it with your other ingredients. This improves food safety and makes it look more appetizing.
However, after saying all that, I do caution you to NEVER put raw hamburger in the crockpot. That is not safe.

I am very scared to use soups in my slow cooker or anywhere else because I was told that if you mix brands it is very dangerous (like using Swanson broth with Campbell's soup). I heard that a reaction will occur that is similar to mixing bleach with ammonia.. Scooter told me to just use store brands, but I am still scared!!

You are right to be concerned. Improperly cooked chicken is potentially a very dangerous thing. That's why I only use the pre-cooked chicken from my regular grocery sore. Maybe somebody here can advise you on how to grill your uncooked chicken first? I wouldn't use raw chicken with canned soup because although my wife is quite young, her husband is elderly and it's just not safe for him to eat.

I love my crockpot, make all kinds of things in it. Chili, Spaghetti sauce, Mac & Cheese to name 3. Happy cooking all. I am new here too

I make a great chicken & rice soup in my slowcooker in just 8 hours. I cut up a few grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts and put them in the cooker with a cup of frozen chopped onions and the carrots from a bag of frozen peas & carrots, then cover them with 2 cans of condensed cream of mushroom soup, a can of condensed cream of celery soup, a can of condensed cream of asparagus soup, and a box of chicken broth.
I let it cook on low for 7 hours, then for the last hour I put in the peas from the frozen bag of peas & carrots and a container of steamed rice left over from ordering chinese food on Tuesdays. My regular grocery store sells big grilled chicken breasts next to the pizza and wings and prepared 7 layer mexican dip, but my other grocery store only carries the Perdue strips. Either will work. If you use different brands of soup it will taste more homemade. Also I add a tablespoon of ground sage at the beginning of the cooking. Enjoy!

My favorite is either a roast or boneless ribs in the slowcooker. Just sprinkle Lipton onion soup in a packet all over and add Italian seasonings on top and cover with water. Let it cook all day, for atleast 8hrs. (On low) Great on Subs! And it smells sooo good when you walk in the door for a long day! There are so many recipes to make in a slowcooker. I've made soups, halushki and almost anything you can think of that needs to cook for along time. It's seems the slower you cook food that better it tastes! Especially when you don't have to slave over a hot oven all day.
