"Healthful", how can it be healthful if it keeps folks from eating salads!

I have to say I am really disappointed with the new "improved" Catalina dressing. I was an avid Catalina fan in fact Catalina was my favorite salad dressing. That was until today anyway. I thought that the dressing looked different but didn't think anything of if until I took a bite and to my surprise found a totally different taste. I am not saying that its awful but its not Catalina anymore. Not the Catalina we all know and love. I am sort of a picky salad dressing eater and thought I finally found one that I could stick with unfortunately it didn't stick with me. Now that the taste has changed I will have to move on to a different brand of salad dressing and away from Kraft. I don't want to find another Kraft flavor I like just so you can go and change it too. I thought I was the only one who felt this way but obviously I am not. Hopefully you will listen to the consumer and change back to the old recipe but until then I will take my business elsewhere. Why did you have to go and mess with a good thing?

I agree and am so glad to find others that do, too! It is AWFUL! Please bring back the old catalina dressing - this new stuff is horrible and there are several things in our family that we enjoy it with - mostly taco salad and hard shell tacos with beef! The new stuff is awful - truly! Please - bring back the good stuff!!!

This new stuff tastes like Vinegar and potent Pepper to me. That is it.
I agree completely. In large doses pepper makes me very sick and this stuff did it for me and I barely could choke it down. I didn't even eat that much of it. It's too thick, too peppery, too much like ketchup that you dropped your vinegar and pepper in. Disgusting!!
It should not even have the name Catalina on the bottle. They should have retired the Catalina name altogether instead of putting a good name on this bottle of filth.
I WANT OLD CATALINA BACK! I have never begged a company to bring back a product like this in my life. I have used the old Catalina for over 20+ years and I'm 28 years old, so it's sort of like a comfort food and favorite all in one. I will never buy from Kraft again until I see my old friend back on the shelf at the store. Furthermore, my mother will not buy from Kraft and neither will anyone else I can convince. How could they mess with something so right? Yeah, I sound a bit on the hysterical side so I apologize, but I am FURIOUS about this!

Let's keep this active! Maybe persistence will pay off! I'm currently sitting at my desk consuming one of the last bottles of the original Catalina dressing that I hoarded when I found out the new one was coming. I will be very sad when I'm through with these. I stopped eating it for a while, but not eating it is just like not having it so I was just prolonging my pain.
BTW, I'm not sure I like what they did to the ranch either.
BRING BACK CATALINA! BRING BACK CATALINA!
(I tried SuperTarget's brand of "french dressing". Not great, but much better then that spicy stuff Kraft has now. I'll probably start there when I run out and start hunting... Even going to Western that my husband likes would be better then the new stuff)

I can't believe they changed this dressing! I have been eating it since i was a kid and now MY kids love it! This new and improved version is awful, disgusting, and I will never buy it again. The original is the best salad dressing EVER, if you ask me. Why did they change it? Stupid move Kraft. Now I don't know what to use on my salads! Anything but Kraft, i guess. Please bring back the old version, please? I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates the new version. Listen to your customer base, Kraft! We want the old Catalina back!

I agree with you! I have used Catalina dressing for 15 years. Now they made it spicey (and with no warning at all. I think the new catalina dressing is awful and I won't buy it anymore.
The company should have left well enough alone. The new Catalina is horrible!

I joined this site just to post my opinion. I love Catalina so much that I carry it with me when I go to a restaurant to eat. I just bought the new Catalina. It is HORRIBLE. It's not a little different, it's not just OK.....It's HORRIBLE. Usually if a company changes a product and I don't like it, no big deal. BUT this is the only salad dressing I liked.I can't imagine never having the old Catalina again. I will have to see if I can find a recipe and make my own. (but will not put any KRAFT products in it !!!) This new stuff tastes like Vinegar and potent Pepper to me. That is it. I hope they get enough complaints that it will be like when New Coke came out and did not last long after all the complaints.

2nd reply. Don't know what happened to my first one. This "New Taste" is a big mistake. Their profits will show. More idiots in control with blurry visions. They should have first tested it on the market in parallel with the old Catalina to see if the consumer switches.

The company may have "valid" reasons, but it appears as if their "valid reasons" is to save money for the company, not to make their loyal customers satisfied! That is ok, if they want to sell garbage instead of a product that was delicious, then so be it. I will find another company to buy my salad dressing from, hey its my money, and I will not spend it on the GROSS new Catalina Dressing!!!!

I will join the chorus of the many other "formerly happy", now unhappy Catalina Dressing users and state for the record that in my opinion, the "Fresh New Taste" SUX! BIG TIME! Does anyone at Kraft actually TASTE a proposed new product before they just squirt it in a bottle, pack it in shipping containers and send out the back of the factory to try and sell? If the level of anger in these message chains even comes close to measuring actual buyer preference - I would think Kraft is going to see a sharp drop in sales in their salad dressings. The "suit & tie" guys might blame it on the present "economy" in order to deflect blame from their own stupidity of putting out a "new product" that is virtually unedible and tastes like.........

We, as the Moderators, have reports that we submit each day to those up the chain. When you see that one of us is "putting it in our report," be assured that your request or concern not unseen.
Kraft is a large company and I'm sure they had valid reasons for their formula changes. That being said, I can put your concerns in my report so that someone up the line can see them as well.

Nope, it's gone. They reformulated most of their dressings. I hate it! It looks gross and tastes horrible! Unless there is some of the old stuff left on the store shelves (which I highly doubt) the old stuff, which was good, is gone. It seems Kraft is changing all of their main staples, which from what I have experienced is for the worst. If they want to make healthier options, then that is great, but make a line extension, don't take away the things that have been working for them, and customer favorites for years! I

We hate the new Catalina Dressing. Is there anywhere we can buy the Old Catalina? Do you have any plans on switching back to the old recipe? If not we will not buy Catalina dressing at all!
