Well he is lactose intorlerant and cream cheese doesn't sit well with him.

He likes just about any pumpkin sweet bread or cake.

keynibear, What is it about the pumpkin roll that he likes, if he dosen't like the "cream cheese based " filling? If it's the pumpkin cake part, why not just make it like a cake and frost it with anything? The marshmelow frosting ideal is a good one. Then there's 7 minute frosting. annaskf

You could also try a marshmellow creme based frosting....this would taste great too if dh likes the flavor....or use the instant pudding mixed with a bit of cool whip to make it a little creamier texture.

Welcome to the community ddsmith08. =)

Excellent suggestion, and you're right, it opens it up for a lot of possibilities.

There are also a lot of frostings out there that are flavored, you could try some of those.

I would substitute a package of instant pudding instead of the cream cheese. Something like the recipe "Fluffy Pudding Frosting" would be a good substitute. You can have fun with the pudding flavors too.

Pumpkin Roll Filling Question

Posted: Oct 23, 2009 8:59 PM
My husband loves pumkin rolls, but doesn't like the cream cheese based filling.

Does anyone have any ideas what I can for a filling instead of the cream cheese based one?

Thanks!
