I am very upset that postum will no longer be avalible for the customers to purchase. I have been drinking postum since I was a little girls over 40 years ago. I would always purchse at least 5 jars at a time so that I would always have it on hand. I never wanted to run out of it. I will really miss it. Please bring it back for all of us who drink it and use it in many recipes.

JoJo

Actually, Kraft is not selling the Post division to Ralcorp (spun out of Ralston-Purina in 1994). They are merging Post with Ralcorp, and Kraft will own 54% of the "new" company. So, I'm sorry to say, if the numbers didn't work before, you can bet they won't work now.

If you do wish to "bombard" the new company, the co-CEO's are Kevin Hunt and David (not Davis) Skarie. The chairman is Bill Stiritz.

Kraft has sold its Post Cereal Division to Ralcorp- a "white label manufacturer" of cereals for many brands. This was the division that produced Postum, which is after all, a cereal grain beverage.

Perhaps we should all be bombarding Ralcorp with requests to revive Postum. I contacted them a few months ago but they would not comment until the sale was finalised (this summer 2008).

Ralcorp Holdings, Inc. (RAH)

800 Market St
Saint Louis, MO 63101-2506
(314) 877-7000

Davis Skarie and Kevin Hunt are co-CEOs

Kraft,

Please bring back Postum! Look how many people have taken the time to sign up - gave up their personal information in order to make their request known. Think of the thousands of people that also want the product but just not able to take the time to respond.

I am writing my PhD-thesis about Acrylamide and found this forum by chance. I would be delighted if you could tell me more about your research on Acrylamide. Is it possible to contact a member directly in this forum? Can you contact me? Sorry, but you probably already noticed that I am not a native speaker...

Kind regards
Sabine

Please, Please, reconsider this decision... I was raised on Postum and have never touched a drop of coffee. It makes me sick to think that I will never be able to buy Postum again. It was a staple of my winter drink menu. I just learned about the discontinuation of this product when I went to replenish my supply and it wasn't on the grocery shelves anymore. If they don't want to sell it anymore, then sell the recipe and rights to it and let someone else provide this drink. For those of us who were faithful consumers of this product as an alternative to nasty coffee we are left with very little alternatives such as Postum. I agree, they didn't market or advertise this product anywhere that I saw... you never saw a coupon for it in the paper or an ad on Tv and finding it in the Grocery Store was sometimes a treasure hunt... Why? In this society of healthful living you would think that they would have really pushed Postum as a healthy alternative. If it didn't sell as well as it should have it is their own fault. I am really upset about this. Postum has been a staple in my life. I WANT IT BACK! I am going to send this to all my friends so they can start writing to this company to get off their behinds and put Postum back on the shelves... as it was. With No Caffeine. The Same simple formula. It is what millions of Seventh Day Adventists have been drinking for a hundred years.... And guess what? Seventh Day Adventists on average live 6-8 years longer than the general public... Maybe there is something in that.... KRAFT LISTEN UP>>>>>>>>>>>WE WANT IT BACK<<<<<

My Mom has been a postum drinker for over 25 years! Now I can't find it anywhere. Bring Postum back! Postum is a great substitute for coffee and healthy to boot. We miss it tremendously. Tonija

Kraft, Corporate America icon, sticks it to loyal customers who've used POSTUM for decades.

Dear Kraft,
This household has discontinued using KRAFT products, until you bring POSTUM back.

Peace Goddess

Finally someone who is actually listening to what I post! Thank You and I totally agree...Kraft shouldnt be so lazy...They should step up to the plate and improve postum so that us many postum lovers could enjoy our cup of postum!

In the meantime I have tried Pero and Cafix...It takes a few weeks, but I am actually aquiring a taste for either of those..not bad ..not bad at all...

I too join these folks in the outrage that Postum is no longer available. How can Kraft abandon this product which is healthy and promotes attention to healthy hot beverage choices while it continues to produce other less healthy food choices? Shame on Kraft! I shall definitely make it a priority to abstain from the purchase of other Kraft products while Postum continues to be unavailable. Discontinuation due to non-interest...ha! If there is some unsafe chemical in Postum as a result of it's processing, Kraft should step up and say so and look for alternative processing techniques. Meanwhile...the product called Pero will be getting my consideration.

Please read my Postum Below Regarding POSTUM

This is my theory: Why Postum Is Gone

In 2002 the FDA discovered a chemical called Acrylamide in lots of processed foods, especially some roasted and baked foods that had to reach high temperatures to process. and I understand that this chemical is a carcigen...just do a simple internet search on it...

Postum turned out to have a very high level of Acrylamide in it....they believe it was due to the long baking process that was needed to produce POSTUM.

So now the FDA is putting pressure on company's to lower the levels of Acrylamide in the foods they produce...and since POSTUM has such a high level of this chemical....well they decided that it would be wise to just make this product go quietly away if possible...

I am just not buying the story that the demand was not there... Why would they stop production "everywhere" not even let Canada produce itl...or not even have it as an online product... I believe that they figured that people had been drinking this for Soooooooooooo...many years that well...If they waited for FDA to come to their door then it would be in the news ...etc.... and it could potentially cause problesm for them...
make sense?

Regarding POSTUM - has Kraft approached other 2nd tier companies about buying the rights to make POSTUM?? A company in Chattanooga, TN called CHATTEM might be interested - they buy the rights of some Procter & Gamble products that are being discontinued. Maybe another 2nd tier food company would consider buying the rights?

My grandpa drank Postum, my dad drank Postum, and I did too. Wow, it's almost like losing a family tradition - like taking down the Christmas tree!!

My wife died April 22, 2005, was shocked with an AED by co-workers, life-flighted to a major hospital where she received two stints. We weren't heavy caffeine drinkers before, but after that she was told she couldn't drink caffeine. We love our Postum!

What can we do to get it back on the market? Do we have to boycott the rest of Kraft's products to get one we want and need?

Mike
