lunch ideas

I'm a Girl Scout leader and we used Oreo cookies to show the different phases of the moon by cutting the top half of the cookie to show the white cream (the girls prefered to take bites instead). TThe cream filling being the moon and the chocolate cookie being the shadow.

You should hear some of the ridiculous projects kids are assigned. This is very typical.

At least it's not a group project!!

i'm a future teacher, and I agree this is a silly idea! it's a homework assignment for the parents! But it's assigned, what are you going to do! I think the 7 layer salad is a great idea if its in a glass bowl so you can see all the layers!

She could make a model of the solar system out of different types/sizes of cheese balls.

I like the pizza too--you could cut out different sizes of pepperoni to illustrate a 2-D picture of the solar system

How about some baked beans, which produce wind! :O

I like the pizza and 7-layer salad suggestions. The jello ideas sound good, as well, but might be considered dessert items. This is a tough one.

Hm.....
AlI can think of is pizza.
Astonomy - she could use the pizza toppings to make a model of the solar system, or a constellation.

Meteorology...hm...weather...Cool Whip could make a nice snowdrift..but that's not very lunchy. I wonder if there is some way to get a tornado like shape inside a jello mold?

What about making a 7 layer salad for the rocks & minerals? Sedimentary layers kind of thing.

I found this online:
"My son's kindergarten class recently made a similar jello creation to illustrate the principles of sedimentary rocks. They are doing a geology unit and the base layer of theirs was red jello (magma), the middle layer was yellow with chunks of fruit in it (composite rock), then there was a thin layer of graham cracker crumbs (plain old dirt) and the top was cool whip mixed with blue jello (an ocean pressing down on all the other layers). "

lunch ideas

My daughter is in 8th grade and has a science project due. The project includes making a lunch dish that has to do with either meteorology, astronomy, or rocks and minerals. Do you have any ideas??? No dessert items are allowed. Please help!!!!
