ummm...no...It's the skin on the hotdogs that makes it very unsafe for young children and a choking hazard no matter what size the pieces are...Not to mention that hot dogs are just plain disgusting.. Start your children out eating healthy, and they will not crave junk when they get older..

You should not be feeding a one-year old child hot dogs...they are a choking hazzard...

I never said they stuffed themselves with cake. I said they were covered with it.

I didn't mean to offend you. I myself have been to plenty of 1 year old parties just like you mentioned. I will not be inviting a lot of people or other children. This day is about my child in a relaxed environment enjoying his meal and cake the way he choses. He loves the typical children foods hot dogs, bananas and anything else he can get in his mouth on his own. I was looking for ideas other parents might have on foods that kids might like that are healthy and good for you. I know cake and those photos are important to many but to me its my child being healthy and enjoying his day not at the expense of adults. I do know that a one year old will not play games and when he has had enough he has had enough. No child should be expected to stuff themselves with cake and rushed to the tub. Sorry if that offends

That is so true. I was to this one party that was at a skating ring for a 1 year old. I really couldn't understand the logic behind that. Have it at home with friends/family, but keep it small

"the birthday boy or girl was destroying a personal cake and applying it to various parts of the body that were not meant for ingesting it."
Exactly why I think 1st birthday parties are for photo-ops only, and immediate family. It's ridiculous the money parents today put into an event the kid won't even remember, or appreciate. IMO, if the parents HAVE to come, rather than you wanting them to be there, then they're too young for a party.

Funny, every first birthday party I have been to, and I have been to a LOT of them, the adults were busy stuffing their faces with the REAL birthday cake, while the birthday boy or girl was destroying a personal cake and applying it to various parts of the body that were not meant for ingesting it.

At one year old, he is most likely limited to pablum and the stuff Gerber puts in little jars. Not too many adults under the age of 90 would appreciate this type of food.

I have a big number 1 cake pan I can sell you, cheap. I've already used it for my kids' first and eleventh birthdays, so I no longer have any use for it.

My son is turning one and I would like to have a birthday party for him with foods that he can eat. Looking for ideas on kid friendly finger foods that adults will enjoy as well.
