I agree. 10 years from now they will find it causes cancer. I have not bought any even though everyone loves them. I don't use plastic in the microwave either for the same reason.

My sister who has a masters degree in printing/packaging and who did her master's thesis on Plastics in Industry swears that it is bound to cause health damage down the road (She was the one warning us all to abandon those Nalgene bottles years before the recall).
However, so far, no research has emerged showing a health risk. Here is a nice little review by Dr. Weil:

The only thing I have to add to this is I do NOT recommend using the "pot holders" for anything other than a hot mat. They get slick if there is any oily liquid spilt on them. I accidentally sloshed some home made chicken stock on them when I was using them and the pot slipped out of my hands. Quite the mess and burns, too.

i would for sure recommend these!!! I have one mat and I am for sure going to be buying more. I have made so many different things on mine and NOTHING sticks to it. I even line my bread pans with it and the bread just falls right out. It's really amazing. I don't know if it's good for the health or not for sure. I haven't read or heard anything about it being bad though. I hope nothing comes up about them being bad because I couldn't imagine cooking without mine now!

Would you recommend the use of silicone made baking pans in our baking/cooking? Is it okay for our health?
thanks
