I find that listening to calm soothing music helps me when i am feeling tense or if I am in pain or if a family member has passed on.

I also find it good to take a nuke warm bath.

sometimes petting your pet works

reading or sharing things with your friends and letting them know what is bothering you.

Yeah, the doctor and baby books say that taking a bath over 100 degrees can cause damage to the baby. But thank you for the ideas.

Congratulations the baby! I'm sorry things aren't going well. Are you sure you can't take hot baths???? I don't remember that being a problem until I was 8 months along & started dilating early.

If you like baking but can't do it right now, perhaps you could 'tweak' that habit by setting yourself up at the table & organizing your recipes. Maybe create a cookbook just for your new baby?

Arlene, I thrive under stress! I've been a stay at home mom and do in-home daycare for 7 years now and find I get less done b/c I don't have the deadlines that I did when I was working. If I'm having company and I know a week in advance they are coming I still wait till the last minute to clean b/c I can whip the house into shape in no time. Now the saying no thing is something that I need to work on...

When I get stressed I do a lot of different things. The first thing I do is clean anything and everything to get my mind off of whatever it is that is bothering me. After I clean, I bake. After being on my feet all day, I take a bath. The problem with that is now that I am pregnant, I am not supposed to be on my feet for long periods and I am not supposed to take hot baths. Now, I just cry (hormones are wonderful arent they? lol) Is there anything that I can still do and it won't harm me or my baby? I am so tired of crying all of the time.

Thanks for weighing in on this topic. You have lots of relevant issues here, but let's talk about getting overwhelmed by "last minute" deadlines. This is something many of us struggle with! If procrastination means you're finishing projects late into the night, break the cycle. Sleep is essential to help maintain a calm, positive mood. Be realistic about what you can and can't comfortably accomplish, and say no if you need to.

Overeating can make you feel even more stressed. Healthy eating helps you be at your best, emotionally and physically. Plan on nutritious snacks, so you don’t reach for whatever’s in the vending machine when you feel anxious. Also, try a new strategy: exercise instead of eat the next time you get overwhelmed. If you need to manage stress on the spot, try deep breathing or a brisk walk.

When I get really stressed out I try to take time out to breathe. I'll take a brisk walk or figure out what I can do to make myself feel better. When I get really stressed, I will relax with a big bowl of frozen yogurt.

One word: chocolate. The rest varies. I can overeat or not be able to eat; have too much energy or no where near enough - but chocolate always helps calm me down.

Hi, Stefany and welcome to the community. There is certainly a meditative quality to some forms of exercise that relieves stress, and is probably better for the body than either food or drink, but there is no one RIGHT answer for everyone.

When I am stressed my brain's chatter seems to get out of control and it's like I'm yelling at the world inside my head. Walking meditation that combines walking while concentrating on my breath calms the chatter down.

When my wife has a hard day (she is a nurse in a correctional facility, so there are many hard days) she eats the aerosol cheese right from the can.

I generally reach out over the internet as a stress reliever.

I am so grateful that I do not over eat when I am feeling stressed. I would be huge! The best stress reliever I have found is exercise. I find no matter how my day is going I always feel better after a 30-45 minutes cardio workout. Even if I take a short walk, it is amazing how much it alleviates whatever "bad" things that may be going on either in the office or in life. However, sometimes I find myself relieving my stress with a couple of glasses of wine. I know this is horrible, but it sure makes me feel better at times. Can anyone relate???

pixieKD, Nexium, cures the up-set stomach,:). Sometimes I take a "long" hot bath, I light candles, turn off the light, and put bubble bath in and just relax, sometimes I read, in the tub.
